'Lifestyle photography is about telling a story through the lens. It's about the legacy that is left behind because of it.'
If you've been keeping up to date with my blog posts you will have heard me mention this shoot in my 2020 goals, as one aim for this year is to do more shoots just like this one!
When I've been raving on about how much I love family lifestyle sessions a lot of people have looked at me very confused and asked what I'm going on about
- 'Isn't it just a photoshoot at home?'
.. and yes it is but a lifestyle session is so much more than that!
It's about telling stories - it's more raw, more real, more emotive!
The aim is to capture people in situations, real-life events or milestones in a gorgeously artistic and candid way - creating the most memorable and natural photographs!
Ofcourse a little posing and direction is still needed and there may be a few posed shots, but the final photographs will be a lot more natural and easy-going. I'll be giving direction initially to set the scene, but the natural responses after that are what will be focused on. So when you scroll down and take a look at this amazing little shoot, there are moments where the whole family are sat reading a story, looking out of the window and laying on the bed - ofcourse these were spoke about and planned a little, but the emotion, laughter and love captured is all real!
I find this style really works well for most people too, especially little ones who don't get why we need to smile at the camera all the time and just want to give Mummy a cuddle and play with their toys, it shifts the focus of the whole shoot onto something else rather than just posing awkwardly for an hour - helping out adults who feel super uncomfortable and conscious of the camera too!
Scroll down and take a look at this gorgeous shoot for yourselves! I would love to do more this year, so if you're interested please get in touch!!
Thanks for reading!
