Family Newborn Photoshoot in Leicestershire with Personal Cultural Details

It’s always so special to welcome people from the wedding world into the studio and photograph them again as their families grow. Mum from this session worked at a venue I photographed at years ago, so it was so lovely to see her again -and even more special that she remembered me and my work.

This was such a gorgeous, relaxed newborn session with the happiest, most chilled little boy, who even gave us some dreamy little smiles too.

I start most sessions by capturing some gentle portraits of baby alone, nothing overly posed, just allowing baby to settle in naturally. In this case, we were treated to some gorgeous big stretches. These images place all the focus on baby and all of those tiny details you never want to forget.

I love capturing these simple, natural moments of mum and dad holding their new baby - the slow breaths, breathing in that newborn smell, and taking a little time to slow down and soak it all in.

I always encourage photographs of each parent individually with baby too, as these portraits feel so special and become timeless memories that will be cherished for years to come.

They also create such lovely opportunities to capture the little details too – like the gorgeous swirl of hair in this one. I love it!

Some parents prefer not to be in every photograph, and that is always completely fine too. I love capturing these close-up connection shots instead - baby safely cuddled in mum and dad’s arms, tiny feet held gently in their hands, and all those little details that show just how small they are right now. These photographs still tell the story of those early days and are often the ones families treasure more and more as the years pass.

One of the most meaningful parts of this session was including a beautiful traditional fabric the family had brought with them. It was such a thoughtful personal touch and a lovely way to celebrate family heritage within their newborn photographs. I always love incorporating items that hold meaning, as they make your images even more personal and unique to your family.

This was such a gorgeous session from beginning to end, full of so many beautiful moments and memories this family can keep forever!
