Mythe Barn Autumnal Wedding with Pumpkin Centerpieces

Autumn has arrived, so let's take a look at this gorgeous wedding from last year. Jordan & Jordan (I know how crazy to have the same name - they call each other Boy Jordan and Girl Jordan) had a gorgeous cosy, Autumnal themed wedding at Mythe Barn - complete with pumpkin centrepieces. It may have been a rainy day but that just made it feel so much more cosy, and we got some gorgeous photographs under the umbrellas too!

I knew I wanted Grace as our wedding photographer before I made any other decisions regarding the wedding. I’d been following her on Instagram for a while and I think I’d have changed date if she wasn’t available!! Not only are the photos perfect but Grace made us feel at ease the second we met her, and it was more like having an extra guest at the wedding! For two people who hate having our photo taken, we now have a house full of wedding photos (we're running out of walls to put them on!)

What was your engagement story?

On a Caribbean cruise, on our 3 year anniversary. We met on 26/10/13, engaged 26/10/16 and married on 26/10/19!

How would you describe your wedding? Everything we dreamed of and more! Better than we ever could have imagined!

Tell us all about your dress I had an exact picture in my mind when I thought of my wedding dress as everyone told me to have an open mind and that I’d probably choose a dress totally different to what I was picturing. But I didn’t! When I went to the dress shop I explained what I wanted to the lady and she picked a couple of dresses out that matched my idea and it was the first one I tried on! I tried a few on but I knew it had to be the first one! I had a Bardot lace 3/4 sleeved dress with a diamanté belt. I still get tempted to put it on just to wear round the house some days haha!

The bridesmaids wore a burgundy multi-way dress from Victoria Lou bridal and the groomsmen and groom all wore matching suits (even the two little boys). All from Marc darcy (from osbourne & co in Atherstone). They were navy tweed with burgundy check going through it so matched our colour scheme perfectly!

What accessories and shoes did you wear? I wore my late mums earrings and perfume and a bracelet that my dad gave me the night before the wedding that had my mums handwriting engraved on it.

Were there any funny moments or comedy errors on the day? We had a burgundy vw camper van to take the bridal party to the church. They took the bridesmaids first and came back for me, my dad, my sister and my nephew. But because of the rain and the lack of windscreen heaters in the van which meant the windscreen kept steaming up, the driver had to drive a lot slower than she did I when she did a trial run to work out timings and ended up being over an hour late coming back to pick me up! We thought she had forgot about coming back for me and were minutes away from getting in the back of my dads transit van to get to the church! (Girl Jordan finds this story funny, Boy Jordan doesn’t, it brings back memories of thinking he’d been stood up!)

What was your favourite photograph from your big day and why? We love the one of us kissing under the umbrella on the driveway, mainly because we thought the rain would totally ruin our photos but if anything the pictures with the umbrella make me glad it rained!! We also love the ones of us with our son Archie, we snook out with him while everyone was eating dessert because it had stopped raining and we stood under a beautiful archway and it was the only time in the day where Archie actually cooperated with what we wanted him to do, and now we have some lovely family photos that we will cherish forever!

Tell us about your Venue We had a couple of venue viewings booked in and Mythe barn was the first. As soon as we left Mythe Barn after our viewing we cancelled the others we had planned. We just knew straight away we had to get married there. It was so picturesque and felt like it would suit our theme perfectly.

What was the theme of your wedding? Autumn! We had pumpkin centre pieces with orange and burgundy flowers. We wanted it to feel warm and cosy.

Did anything come up during the planning stage that you hadn't anticipated? Organising the groomsmen and the men in our families to try on suits was a bit chaotic, we had people in wales and Northampton so getting everyone there and making sure they had been measured etc was a bit stressful!

What advice or tips would you share with others who are planning their big day? Enjoy it!! The lead up is almost as exciting as the day itself, and now a year on all I keep saying is this time last year we were getting all of the little bits ready! As much as we’d love to relive the day again, we’d love to go back to a month before the wedding and relive the whole build up again too!

Thank you for reading!
